EVENTS & PROGRAMS
Trans Affirm, Inc offers a plethora of events to help our community. Famous for our Idaho's first "Trans-Affirming Resource fair," Trans Affirm hosts pop-up events throughout the year to bring essential resources, education, and community support directly to those who need them. These events cover a wide range of topics, from gender-affirming care and legal navigation to allyship training and harm reduction. Whether it's a hands-on "How-To" workshop based on trans topics such as name changes, how-to makeup, ect, a networking space for trans folks and allies, or a resource distribution event, our goal is to make vital information and support more accessible across Idaho.

Trans Affirm’s Transition Wear Program provides transgender and gender diverse Idahoans with access to gender affirming clothing, transition wear, and other items that can help people feel more comfortable and confident in their bodies.
Transition related items can be expensive, difficult to find locally, or inaccessible for people who cannot safely order them to their home. This can be especially challenging in rural parts of Idaho, where there may be few or no local places to purchase these products in person. Our program helps reduce some of those barriers by bringing Transition Wear directly to community events throughout Idaho.
What We Provide
Depending on current inventory, Transition Wear may include binders, Trans Tape, tucking garments, packers, bras, breast forms, boxers and underwear, shapewear, makeup, razors, hygiene and self care products, and other gender affirming items.
Inventory varies between events and is based entirely on available funding, donations, sizes, and current stock. We cannot guarantee that a particular item, brand, size, style, or color will be available.
Items are offered free or by donation. Ability to donate does not determine whether someone can access Transition Wear.
Transition Wear Is Available at Events Only
Trans Affirm does not currently fulfill individual Transition Wear requests or ship Transition Wear. Items are distributed in person at Trans Affirm events, Pride events, resource fairs, and other approved community popups.
We know that not everyone can easily attend an event, and we understand that individual requests and shipping would make the program more accessible for some community members. However, demand for Transition Wear throughout Idaho is significantly greater than our current funding, inventory, and volunteer capacity.
Keeping distribution event based allows us to serve as many people as we responsibly can while keeping inventory organized and available for communities throughout the state. It also allows people to see available options in person, receive sizing information, and, when possible, use a private changing area before selecting an item.
Because of this, we are unable to make exceptions for individual requests, holds, reservations, or shipping at this time.
Finding the Right Fit
We want people to leave with something they can actually use. When possible, our team provides sizing information and fitting assistance for items such as binders. Some events may also include a private popup changing area so community members can check fit before choosing an item.
Our team can provide general product and manufacturer safety information, but we do not provide medical advice. We encourage everyone to follow manufacturer instructions and speak with an appropriate healthcare professional about individual health concerns.
Donations and Previously Owned Items
We accept new and certain gently used Transition Wear that can safely and appropriately be redistributed. Items are reviewed before being added to our available inventory.
For hygiene reasons, we do not redistribute used lower body undergarments. Whether we can accept other items may depend on their condition and the current needs of the program.
Financial donations and purchases from our wishlists also help us restock commonly requested items and sizes.
Why This Program Matters
Sometimes the impact of Transition Wear is immediately visible.
We have watched people put on a properly fitting binder for the first time and light up when they see themselves in the mirror. We have met people who have wanted an affirming item for months or even years but could not afford it, could not find it locally, or did not have a safe way to purchase it.
Then they get to leave an event with that item completely free.
To someone else, it might look like a binder, a piece of clothing, or some makeup. To the person receiving it, it can mean comfort, confidence, gender expression, and finally seeing a little more of themselves reflected back at them.
Those moments of trans joy are at the heart of this program.
Where to Find Transition Wear
Transition Wear travels with Trans Affirm to events throughout Idaho, including Pride celebrations, resource fairs, community events, and Trans Affirm popups.
Because inventory and event participation change throughout the year, we encourage community members to follow Trans Affirm and check our upcoming events before attending specifically for Transition Wear.
Please remember: Transition Wear is currently distributed at events only. We cannot accept individual requests, reserve items, or ship items.
As our funding, inventory, and organizational capacity grow, we hope to continue expanding how many transgender and gender diverse Idahoans this program can reach.

Finding other people who understand your experiences can be difficult, especially for transgender and gender diverse people living in rural parts of Idaho. Trans Affirm’s virtual support groups create a dedicated space for community members to connect, talk openly, share experiences, and feel less alone.
Our groups are professionally facilitated by a nonbinary Licensed Professional Counselor rather than operating as peer support groups. Having a professional facilitator helps maintain a structured, respectful, and supportive environment while still allowing the group to center the experiences and conversations participants want to bring into the space.
Conversations may include identity, coming out, transition, relationships, family, navigating work or school, finding community, dealing with isolation, celebrating milestones, or simply talking about everyday life as a transgender or gender diverse person. Participants do not have to be at any particular point in their identity or transition to benefit from community.
Accessible Across Idaho
Our support groups are held virtually so people can participate from communities throughout the state.
For someone living in a rural area, the nearest LGBTQ+ specific organization, affirming space, or support group may be hours away. Transportation, disability, work schedules, cost, or simply not feeling comfortable attending an in person space can create additional barriers.
Virtual groups allow someone in a small Idaho community to connect with others without needing to travel across the state just to find people who understand their experiences.
Community Without Pressure
There is no single way to be transgender or gender diverse, and our groups are not built around telling someone how they should identify, transition, or live their life.
Some participants may be exploring their identity. Others may have been out for many years. Some may medically or socially transition, while others may not. The goal is to provide a space where people can participate in conversation, hear different experiences, and find connection without needing to prove that they belong.
Sometimes what someone needs most is simply the opportunity to be in a room, even a virtual one, where they do not have to explain the basics of who they are before they can talk about what is happening in their life.
What Support Groups Are and Are Not
Trans Affirm’s groups provide community connection and professionally facilitated discussion, but they are not a replacement for individual therapy, crisis services, medical care, or emergency mental health support.
The facilitator does not provide individualized medical advice through the group, and participation does not establish an individual therapist and client relationship.
Instead, the groups offer something different: consistent opportunities to connect with community in a space intentionally created for transgender and gender diverse people.
Joining a Group
Support group schedules, age requirements, registration information, and availability may vary throughout the year. Because creating a respectful environment for participants is important, community members should review the current group information and participation expectations before joining.

The HRT Access Grant was created by Trans Affirm and helps reduce financial barriers to hormone replacement therapy for low income transgender and gender diverse adults in Idaho.
The program was created in response to the significant barriers many Idahoans face when trying to begin or continue gender affirming healthcare. Costs associated with appointments, laboratory work, prescriptions, limited provider availability, insurance restrictions, and traveling for care can make maintaining access especially difficult for people with limited incomes or those living in rural communities.
Our first grant cycle in August of 2026 provided six Idaho adults with funding for one year of HRT related care through a healthcare provider partnership. The program supported both people beginning HRT and people who needed assistance continuing established care.
The HRT Access Grant opens during designated application periods and is not continuously open for applications. Eligibility, available awards, covered expenses, participating providers, and other requirements may change between grant cycles based on available funding and partnerships.
Trans Affirm provides financial access rather than medical care. We do not provide medical advice or determine someone's treatment. Prescriptions, laboratory requirements, appointments, and other healthcare decisions remain between each recipient and their qualified healthcare professionals.

The Idaho Inclusive Bathroom Map is a statewide, community submitted resource designed to help transgender and gender diverse Idahoans make more informed decisions about where they feel comfortable using the restroom.
The map includes community reports about gender neutral and single user restrooms, businesses and locations where people have reported inclusive experiences, and locations where community members have reported concerns. It gives people information they can consider before deciding where they want to stop.
For many transgender people, something as ordinary as stopping for gas, eating at a restaurant, attending an event, shopping, or traveling across Idaho can involve additional planning around restroom access. Nobody should have to spend their entire trip wondering where they will be able to use the bathroom.
Our goal is simple: everyone deserves to pee in peace.
The map also gives supportive Idaho businesses an opportunity to make their restroom options easier for community members to find. Businesses with gender neutral, single user, or other inclusive restroom options can submit their information to the map.
All entries are based on community submissions and may not be independently verified by Trans Affirm. Inclusion on the map is not a guarantee of safety, an endorsement of a business, or a legal determination. Experiences and conditions can change, which is why continued community updates are an important part of keeping the resource useful.

The Idaho Trans Resource Hub brings transgender and gender diverse resources together in one easier to navigate online location.
The hub includes information related to affirming healthcare, legal resources, transition resources, community organizations, support services, financial assistance, crisis resources, and other needs that may arise while navigating life as a transgender person in Idaho.
Finding support can be difficult when information is scattered across different websites, social media pages, organizations, and communities. Someone looking for help may not even know what organization exists or what words to search for. The Resource Hub is designed to provide a starting point.
We continually work to expand and update the hub as resources change and new programs become available. Resources listed through the hub may be operated by outside organizations, so inclusion does not guarantee availability, eligibility, affordability, or a particular experience with a provider or organization.

TF Queer Connections creates opportunities for LGBTQ+ people to meet, build friendships, have fun, and simply enjoy being in community together in Twin Falls. It was started after many of our local communities outside of Twin Falls had regular monthly, and some even weekly, queer events, while Twin Falls had little to none.
Events can include queer karaoke, holiday parties, clothing exchanges, social gatherings, games, and other community activities. Events vary throughout the year based on community interest, available spaces, partnerships, and organizational capacity.
Many LGBTQ+ resources understandably focus on responding to difficult circumstances. While that work is important, we also believe queer and transgender people deserve spaces centered around friendship, laughter, celebration, and joy.
These opportunities can be especially meaningful in smaller communities where dedicated LGBTQ+ spaces and events may be limited. Nobody should have to move to a larger city simply to have opportunities to meet people who share their experiences.
Locations, ages, accessibility information, activities, and other participation details vary, so community members should check the information provided for each individual event.

The Queer Lending Library (Pilot Program in Twin Falls) is a developing community resource focused on making LGBTQ+ resource books, queer literature, history, and educational materials more accessible locally.
The library will provide opportunities for community members to learn about queer identities, experiences, history, and culture through books and other materials they can borrow rather than having to purchase themselves.
Representation in books matters. LGBTQ+ people deserve opportunities to read stories that reflect people like them, while families, friends, allies, and other community members deserve accessible opportunities to learn about experiences different from their own.
This project is particularly important to us in a smaller community where queer specific books and educational resources may not always be easy to find. Our goal is to build a collection shaped by the community and make queer centered reading more accessible.

Trans Affirm creates free educational resources for transgender and gender diverse people, families, friends, allies, and anyone interested in learning more.
Our educational blog, guides, brochures, zines, and digital resources cover topics including terminology, pronouns, allyship, transgender history, transition related information, legal name changes, navigating everyday experiences, and other subjects identified by our community.
Education is important both for transgender people looking for practical information and for people who want to better understand and support transgender people in their lives. Allies should have places to learn without expecting transgender friends, family members, coworkers, or community members to personally teach them everything.
We also believe community knowledge should be shared. Many of our resources are informed by questions, experiences, and needs we hear directly from transgender people. As our community and available information continue to evolve, our educational resources will continue growing alongside them.
-
Not everyone can come to us, so Trans Affirm works to bring resources directly into communities throughout Idaho.
We participate in Pride celebrations, resource fairs, community events, and popups across the state. Depending on the event and available inventory, our booth may include Transition Wear, LGBTQ+ educational materials, resource information, harm reduction supplies, program information, merchandise, and opportunities to connect directly with members of our team.
These events also give us opportunities to hear directly from the communities we serve. Conversations at a resource fair can help us understand what resources people are struggling to find, what information is missing, and what programs may be needed in different parts of Idaho.
Statewide outreach is particularly important because Idaho's size and rural geography can create significant barriers to LGBTQ+ specific resources. We intentionally work to reach communities outside of the state's largest population centers whenever our capacity allows.

Trans Affirm organizes and participates in events throughout the year that create opportunities for connection, education, visibility, remembrance, celebration, and community action.
This includes Pride and other LGBTQ+ community events as well as recognition of Transgender Day of Visibility and Transgender Day of Remembrance. Each serves a different purpose within our community.
Transgender Day of Visibility creates opportunities to recognize transgender lives, accomplishments, resilience, and the people making a difference in their communities. Transgender Day of Remembrance creates space to honor transgender people lost to anti transgender violence while coming together in remembrance and solidarity.
We also participate in other gatherings and community activities throughout the year. Whether an event is focused on celebration, education, remembrance, or connection, the underlying goal is to make sure transgender Idahoans have opportunities to gather, be represented, build relationships, and know there is community here.

Trans Affirm partners with and provides funding support to Trans Affirming Group Pocatello, commonly known as TAG Pocatello, to help strengthen transgender community and resources in the Pocatello area.
TAG Pocatello provides local peer support and opportunities for transgender and gender diverse people to connect with others who understand many of the experiences they may be navigating. This local presence is especially important because statewide organizations cannot replace the value of community members building relationships and support networks within their own cities.
By providing funding and partnering with TAG Pocatello, we can help support local transgender led community building while connecting people in Southeast Idaho with additional statewide resources through Trans Affirm.
TAG Pocatello remains its own community group, and its peer support activities are separate from Trans Affirm's professionally facilitated virtual support groups.
